I’m currently a sophomore in high school, and i want to start looking for scholarship opportunities. I need advice on how to start my search, or if anyone happens to know of any i can apply for. I know it’s still early, but i want to make sure i’m doing things the right way so i’m not struggling when junior and senior year come. I’m still trying to decide what i want to do in the future, but i’m starting to narrow down my choices.
My school is one of the top public schools in the state and nation, and my GPA is about 4.3. (On a 5 point scale.) In addition to that, I’m in 4 clubs, i did volunteering at a day care for several years (it closed when i was in 8th grade; i’m currently looking for other volunteer opportunities, and i did do some work freshman year), and i’m doing a sport (water polo) for the first time this spring.
Outside of school, i’m looking for a job now and will probably start working weekends. Also, I’m not quite sure how much this affects my chances, but as far as my economic status is concerned my family is about $ 500 over the poverty limit. My dad isn’t working due to the fact he’s taking care of my grandma- who suffers from Alzheimers, and my mom has health issues that prevented her from working for a long time.

Another good resource for scholarship information is your high school’s guidance center where counselors should have information on local, state, and national scholarships. High school usually have a boat load of scholarship information. If the guidance center doesn’t have it try the career center or ask around.
You can also call the financial aid of local colleges or the college you want to attend. Most college financial aid offices have lists of scholarships and neccessary information on them. A lot of school’s are now posting scholarship information and resources online now on their financial aid webpages. So hunt around and maybe do a google search too.

Okay I am an average student who is in accelerated classes and I get grades like 88%-96% and I am a junior in high school.I was wondering if there is any scholarship opportunities for me(not very rich financially)?
