Q&A: Items for a "Wet Show"?

In comes this nice 1080p projector that is rated #1 on Amazon’s Top 10 1080p projectors.

You no longer need the budget of Steven Spielberg to equip a home cinema with crystal sharp projected images. This machine, out of the box, delivers excellent quality 1080p motion picture images. At a throw of about 10 feet, you can fill an eight-foot wide screen. Darken the room and lower the bulb’s output to save on it’s expected life and you will swear you are watching a movie at the local multiplex (assuming you have Bluray and a modest sound system. This machine is well worth $ 4,000, but now available at around $ 1200, it’s worth every penny. Treat yourself.
If you are a home theater nut and have a budget

My daughters find that they cannot play some video games on it as standing blocks the projector. Not sure if a bigger room and a higher mount would take care of that or not. There is no remedy for it in our house.

I needed a projector with offset. This projector is great for locations where the ceiling is less than 8 ft high and the screen cannot be located directly in front of the projector. I have my theatre in a walk out basement that has 10 ft of full length windows and doors on the west side of the room and the screen on the east wall. I have a 105 inch painted screen (DIY Theatre Platinum Screen Kit available from Amazon vendor Parts Express). The basement is divided by a center wall with two six foot wide doorways that only partially block the light. During the day and evening the light level is very high, but this projector, set on economy mode and cinema provides an acceptible picture. At night, the picture is outstanding. I now have 100 hours on the bulb, and I can’t imagine watching a movie on my flat screen TV. Everyone who has seen the picture is amazed at the quality.

I had a chance to test this projector as I was in the market for an HD projector. The image quality is excellent as is the black levels. The fan noise is minimal and it’s bright.

The picture on this projector is excellent, one of the best pictures I have seen for under $ 1800. Many times when I start it up even as new it has had a burning smell to it. Nothing is wrong with it but it does smell like it is burning.

When I first took out the projector from its package, my first thought was ‘Whoa, this is huge’. Appart from that, picture is great, and it is simple to setup. One thing to note though is that there is no way to adjuts the shape of the picture like there was with my old projector. Instead, you should make sure that the projector is perfectly leveled, and the manual calibration will automagically adjust the shape of the picture to get a perfect rectangle.

I have owned the 8350 since just after cyber Monday and have logged about 100 hrs on the lamp. I am very happy so far with the quality.

The picture and the contrast, resolutions is awesome. Cant believe that we get this quality at affordable prices, cheaper than even a regular 52″ TV.

A while back we decided to add some lighting effects to our stage show and thought of putting on a wet show. I went and found an old-school overhead projector on e-bay and set off across the ‘nets to find our how to run a show on one. One of the most useful pages i could find said to use liquified sugar candy in place of oil on account of it not mixing with water. The question, should i have to go to a specific place that specializes in items like this, or should my local grocer have it?

any additional info from anyone thats done this would be much appreciated!

Thanks,
Red Hand

Please tell me that a “Wet Show” isn’t when the woman and the donkey clean up afterward.
